spotify logo
Spotify comes in all shapes and size, available for your home audio system, PC, Mac, and mobile phone. Think of Spotify as a new way to listen to music and your new music collection. Only this time your collection is vast: over 15 million tracks and counting. Wherever you go, your music follows you. There’s no need to wait for downloads and no big dent in your hard drive because the music plays live.

Spotify's chief content officer Ken Parks mentioned that the much-loved music streaming service is finally coming to the US. Asked about the final hurdles leading up to release, Parks said us: "We were really adamant about bringing the service to the US, which means a really great, free experience. We wanted to be really careful about the way we did this, and the rights holders felt the same way. It took some time, but we're absolutely thrilled that all four major labels and a ton of indies are behind us, and we'll be bringing that Spotify experience to the US tomorrow".

The streaming music service is currently in an invite-only beta phase, but you can sign up for an invitation or jump the queue right into the service's Unlimited ($5) or Premium ($10) monthly subscription tiers. The latter version is compatible with Android and iOS devices, as well as a number of streaming media products from companies like Sonos and Logitech. The US version will be largely identical to its European counterpart and will feature access to at least part of the company's global catalog of 15 million songs. No word on the actual number of tracks in US version, but Parks promised that it would offer, "a huge catalog."

NYC Restaurant Weeks Has Begun

Restorant Week NYC
NY City's Restaurant Week gets under way with greater than 320 restaurants presenting prix-fixe lunch and dinner list menus. Save for several decent deals, you sucker people today into having to pay for crappier food than what you commonly serve. Green salads and vegetable soups are the primary appetizers. Chicken-breast entrées abound such as toplessness at Cannes. Panna cotta is constantly the sweet finale. Still, some deals exist, and you can at least look into the Restaurant Week menus online.
This summer's Restaurant Week commences July 11, 2011 and will last til July 24, 2011 but everyone realizes it will be extended through the end of summer, exactly like every summer. Just ensure to do your research and try to find places that are providing the same dishes on their Restaurant Week menu as on their regular menu. NYC & Company mentions the partnering restaurants are offering at the same prices as in 2006, lunches will be $24.07 and dinners $35. RW vets understand that these deals can certainly result in meals which are hit or miss, but when you haven't made any reservations yet, a quick check reveals that some of the most dependable places still have availability.

We must wait until later this week before we enjoy the first teaser trailers for The Dark Knight Rises.

A Dance with Dragons: More than 650,000 Copies Sale!

July 11, 2011 more than 650,000 hardcover copies of A Dance With Dragons (Bantam, $35), go on sale in the USA, with translators in 40-some languages standing by. A Dance with Dragons, the fifth of seven planned novels in the epic fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, was actually the title of the second novel in the sequence. That Martin’s latest Song hits bookstores on Tuesday. After the publisher announched On March 03, 2011 A Dance with Dragons would be officially published on July 12, 2011 and publishers are expecting a blowout best-seller.

A Dance with Dragons

"A Dance with Dragons" is just simply a book, of course. This book is not the Second Coming or anything. And I know that George R.R. Martin must feel a lot of pressure concerning this one. It’s late and it has to repair some of the damage done by "A Feast for Crows," which frankly thought as if it was created by a ghost writer at times. Last but not least that book is here, and some of the things we’ve been wondering about for more than a decade are actually revealed (not everything, but at least some things). "A Dance with Dragons" has the same structural problems as the previous book; this is sprawling and incoherent at times, but at least the characters are more interesting than in the previous installment. It does feel like I’m reading a bunch of separate stories within the same setting–the chapters are told through the eyes of various characters–but that doesn’t really bother me as I love the setting and like to see it through various points of view.
"A Dance with Dragons" novel has been the carrot George R.R. Martin’s been dangling before his fans, and now that it is here I sincerely hope work on the next novel in the series, "The Winds of Winter," commences quickly and that Martin will update his readers regularly on the progress of that sixth volume, without riddles and metaphors. HBO’s TV series based on his books, "Game of Thrones," has won him a very good number of new readers, so he’ll have many more starved fans for the next volume.
